Distinctives
Centrality of the Word
Our services are structured around the Holy Scriptures. We are invited into God’s presence through a call from the Word; we sing the Word, pray the Word, hear the Word preached, and are sent out with God’s blessing. Our services are filled with Scripture because this is how God speaks to us and transforms His people.
Weekly Communion
We believe the Lord’s Supper is a central component of Christian worship. We celebrate the Supper weekly as a visible token of God’s love and favor towards His people. The Supper is given to nourish our faith and we receive it with thanksgiving. All who are baptized members of a Christian church who have repented of their sins are invited to partake.
Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs
We dedicate a significant part of our musical diet to the singing of the Psalms. These are prayers and songs written by the inspiration of the Spirit. Our loves are properly ordered and shaped when we sing God’s Word back to Him. Our singing also includes a variety of songs throughout church history, including hymns from Ambrose of Milan or from the 21st century.
Fellowship
Our church frequently enjoys fellowship with one another, from monthly potluck suppers to barbecues at various members houses. We also host a fellowship time after every service with refreshments and good conversation.
